About Settlor

One bill. Paid by a stranger.

Settlor exists for the moment a household is one bill away from trouble, and for the people who have more than enough and would rather fix something real than donate into a fog.

Why it exists

A power bill, a month of rent or a school fee is a small number to some people and a cliff edge to others. Most giving puts a wall of organisations between the two. Settlor removes the wall: you see the actual bill, you pay the actual biller, and you see it marked settled.

Nobody on Settlor asks for cash. They ask for a specific invoice to be paid. That is the whole idea.

How a bill is checked

Every bill is reviewed by a person before it goes live. We look at:

  • The invoice itself. A photo or PDF of the real bill is required, with the biller, the amount and the due date visible.
  • Who gets paid. The payment details must belong to the biller, the power company, the landlord, the school, not to the person posting. If the only option is a personal account, we say so on the bill.
  • The story. It has to make sense and it must not identify the poster. Bills are anonymous: no names, ever.

If anything does not add up, the bill is rejected with a reason sent to the poster. When a giver uploads a payment receipt, we check that too before the bill is marked settled.

The money never touches us

Settlor is not a payment service and does not hold funds. You pay the biller directly by bank transfer, PayPal or Revolut using the details on the bill, then upload your receipt. We confirm it and mark the bill settled.

There are no fees and no commission. One hundred percent of what you pay goes to the bill, because it goes straight to the bill.

What Settlor is not

  • Not a crowdfunding site. Only specific invoices, never general goals.
  • Not a loan. Nobody owes anybody anything afterwards.
  • Not a registered charity yet. Payments are gifts between private people and are not tax-deductible.
  • Not anonymous towards us. We know who posts and who pays; the public does not.

Who is behind it

Settlor is an independent project started in Norway in 2026 by one person who was tired of watching electricity prices break ordinary households. It runs on its own servers, is checked by hand, and grows one settled bill at a time. Registering it as a non-profit is the plan once the idea has proven itself.
